A message from Lauren Semple (Festival Chair)
and Craig Cooper (Festival Director)

Cities will always change, rebuild, reinvent and reinterpret themselves. But while most cities take years, even centuries to move through this process, Christchurch has been forced to undergo this in just a few years. And now, even without the ground moving, it remains a shifting city. The physical, emotional and cultural landscape continues to transform all around us.

This can be disorienting and discomforting, but it is fertile ground for artists. And the whole world knows it, last year The New York Times rated Christchurch one of the world's top places to visit, emphasising that a rebirth was happening "with creativity and wit".

For the 2015 Christchurch Arts Festival, we celebrate and embrace the city's new energy and profile, featuring many artists who call Christchurch their hometown, and presenting a wide range of artists from around the world, all of who come determined to be a part of this unique artistic environment.

For our audiences we are very pleased to invite you back to the centre of the city as we return to some of our most beloved venues including The Arts Centre and the Isaac Theatre Royal. For four weeks in early spring the central city will be a hub of creative light, warmth and energy.

We thank all the superb artists who have agreed to share their work with us, we are continuously amazed at the power of your visions and your skills.

Thanks also to our many funders, sponsors and supporters who allow us to fulfil our ambitions to bring the very best artists to Christchurch.

Dive into the programme, mark your favourites and don't forget to try something new, and join us for four fantastic weeks.
